I am so indebted to my loyal customers.  The shop has had to take a back seat to so many things.  Many have stuck with me through this time although my stock has been so low.

I will be out once again as Tues., April 17, I will have one more surgery and I am not at all sure how long it will keep me out of the shop.  In doing some research I realized that it may be longer than I thought.   The doctor had said “at least a week” but by the experience of others it may be longer.

Right now I have only been able to work 3 days a week, Wed. and Fri. from noon to 5 pm.  Sat. from 10-2.  I will probably resume that same schedule when I do return.

Until then, keep on knitting!

Now is the time to think about smaller projects and people do knit hats and mittens year around, they are the perfect portable projects! Get a jump on your holiday knitting, you won’t be sorry you did! If you’re like me, you start wishing you’d been thinking of knitting those things about the time you need them!

I’m always happy to help you find patterns to knit new and fun things, there is a wealth of free patterns on line and I can print them out for you!

The synthetic and very popular Marble yarn is on order! This time I also ordered the baby line. They are slow shippers so it will be awhile, but it is on the way!

The other exciting thing is the new special issue from Interweave called “Knitting Traditions”.  I can barely put it down, it has 43 timeless projects and they are wonderful.  Have you ever heard of Anna Makarovna in War and Peace?  She knit two socks at once, one inside the other on the same needles.  I have always been fascinated by that and thrilled to see the technique.  The magazine is full of history.

The Yarn Corner will be closed on Friday and Saturday of this week for President’s weekend for a family time.

Drop in and say hi when you can!

The first one coming up is a sock class designed to teach a new toe-up method. It is called the Houdini sock and it’s a great new concept that gives a good fit. The class will be Feb. 20 at 9 a.m.

We are going to make a tiny sock in class to teach all parts of the sock but will make available some handouts to show how to make a full-size version.

Yarn will be included in the class fee as we will just need a small amount. A gauge swatch completed prior to class will be required. We will teach a cast-on method during class and will provide needles to practice on as we will use heavier yarn and bigger needles for that part.

We have other class ideas, also and will let you know when those are ready to happen. We’re always open to ideas for classes you’d like to see, too.
